Elizabeth Theresa Standing was born 14 July 1907 in Billington, Lancashire, England, and died 9 April 2002 in Lac La Biche, AB. She married Robert Edmond Piquette on 17 February 1947 in Plamondon, AB, son of Alcide Piquette and Adeline Daly.

Elizabeth's father was a soldier in World War I. After the war he moved his family to Canada in 1919. Elizabeth was 12 at the time. After arriving in Vancouver they moved north to the Prince George area and established a farm in the forest area at Willow River some 40 km East of Prince George. She completed High School in Prince George and then moved to Edmonton where she enrolled in the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1931, winning the General Proficiency Gold
Medal. She then attended Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she graduated in 1934 with a post graduate degree in Obstetrics. Moved back to Edmonton where she worked at the Misericordia Hospital. She also worked a year at the Seton Hospital in Jasper AB. In 1939 she became the Provincial Public Health Nurse in Plamondon where she worked for over 20 years. As of Sept. 05, 2000, she resides in the Auxiliary Hospital in Lac La Biche. Unfortunately she lost her hearing several years ago so communicating with her is difficult. Fell and broke her arm and shoulder in March 2002. Died on April 9, 2002 from complications.

Robert Edmond Piquette (son of Alcide Piquette and Adeline Daly) was born 2 May 1909 in St. Albert, AB, and died 21 November 1985 in Edmonton, AB. He married Elizabeth Theresa Standing on 17 February 1947 in Plamondon, AB.

Moved to Plamondon with his parents in 1914. Lived in Plamondon until 1928. Worked in the mines at Coal Valley, AB until 1933. Then he homesteaded south of Plamondon. He dug a ditch by hand almost 1 km long to drain a lake. Built snowshoe like
pads for his horses feet to allow them to work in bogs / around lakes / in muskegs. Then worked several years as a car salesman for L. H. Tremblay of Morinville, AB (Jean Tremblay's brother, Jean is his brother in law. Joined the Canadian Army
in 1940 until 1945. Spent the war training soldiers because health problems did not allow him to go overseas. Married February. 17, 1947 and started a mink ranch. After 2 years he sold it and built an automotive garage and body shop in Plamondon. He
was also had the district John Deere agency. Traded this business in 1953 for a large farm at Donnelly in the Peace River Area of Alberta. Where they farmed for 2 years. Sold the farm and bought a lakeside property about 7 km East of Plamondon.
He set up a subdivision known as Bayview Beach and sold many lots. Formed the Pelican Hotel Co. in 1957. Constructed the hotel and operated it until 1968 when his health problems (emphysema) forced him to retire. Retired in Kelowna where he
worked part time for the BC Corps of Commissionaires. Moved back to Alberta in the early 1980's and died in Edmonton.
