Joan A. Owens, 72, of Beaverton, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999 in Midland at the home of her son, Rick after a long illness. Born Aug. 31, 1926 in Midland, she lived in Gladwin County from 1956 to 1998 and previously lived in Midland. Joan married Lawrence (Pat) Owens, Aug. 10, 1946 in Midland. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville.
Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, Edward A. and Robert M., both of Beaverton, Rick L. and wife Robyn of Midland, and Hugh P. of Alexandria, Va.; four daughters, Nancy A. Kelly of Midland, Connie and husband Terry Loar, and Sally J. Fisher, all of Beaverton, and Janice K. Owens of Dover, N. H.; one brother, Larry Duel of Nevada; one sister, Dorothy Terrill of Florida; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friend, Mary Marshall of Midland.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville with Rev. Father Todd Amberg officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. A Christian wake service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church or MidMichigan Visiting Nurses (Hospice).
