Lucille Margaret (Anctil) Garand, age 87, of Grove Street, Fall River, died on Monday, June 30, 2008 in Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Garand Sr. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Nolasque and Yvonne (Hanley) Anctil. She had been a lifelong resident of the city. Lucille worked in the garment industry and Hussey Hospital. She loved her husband of fifty years, with whom she also shared a summer cottage in Tiverton for many years. She loved her family, her faith, and feeding the birds. She was an avid Red Sox fan and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by her two sons Frank A. Garand Jr. and his wife Carol of Swansea and Robert Garand and his wife Lisa of Fall River, three grandsons Francois Garand III, Timothy Garand, and Matthew Garand and his wife Allison, one great-granddaughter Avery Elizabeth Garand. She is also survived by a sister Millie Bouchard, a brother-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Garand and several nieces and nephews. Lucille was predeceased by her niece, Carol (Garand) Phenix, whom she raised as her daughter, and is survived by Carol's husband, Raymond Phenix, their three children Raymond Jr., Robert, and Mary Ellen Phenix, and three grandchildren Amanda, Ryan, and Robert Phenix. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, Joseph (Hank), Roland, and Hector Anctil.
Her Funeral will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 8:00 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St. Fall River (at Cherry, Locust, and High sts.) followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Sacred Heart Church Linden St. Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Sacred Heart Parish 160 Seabury St. Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
