WATERVLIET Frank E. Broderick, 29, died suddenly Saturday, November 22, 2003 at his home. Born in Barbados, West Indies on October 2, 1974, he was raised in Melrose and was a 1992 graduate of Hoosic Valley High School. He graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a B.A. degree in painting. He later received his master's of fine arts in painting from the University at Albany. He was a self employed artist working from his studio at home and recently was invited to be an artist in residence at Altos De Chavon, an artist school in the Dominican Republic. He was an adjunct professor in drawing at Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson. He was also a drummer and was a member of the Empire State Percussion Ensemble while in high school. He is the beloved son of Charles E. and LuAnn Favata Broderick of Melrose; brother of Kelly Michel and her husband Scott of Valley Falls, Erin Broderick of Watervliet and Katherine Broderick and her fiance David Kruk of Albany; uncle of Patrick and Travis Michel; paternal grandson of Mary Broderick of Melrose and the late Frank A. Broderick Jr., maternal grandson of Elizabeth Favata of North Greenbush and the late Rocco Favata. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 11:15 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Hoosic Valley Central School Art Department, c/o Parker Bros.
