LEE CLAPP
IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO -- Leland Robert “Lee” Clapp, 77, of Idaho Falls, died January 31, 2008, at his home due to an extended illness. He was under the care of Hospice Alliance.
He was born January 2, 1931, in Shelton, Idaho, to Leslie Charles Clapp and Katie Christina McNulty Clapp. He grew up in Shelton and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He served as a Sergeant First Class in Germany for the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Darlene Fay Hansen May 6, 1955, and they were later divorced. He married Sandra Kaye Smith February 20, 1970, in Rigby, Idaho. They made their home in Ft. St. John, British Columbia, Canada. They owned and operated the Charlie Lake General Store and Mukluk Trading Post at Mile 51 of the Alaska Highway. They retired to Idaho Falls in 1995. Sandra passed away October 5, 2007.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as President of the North Peace Rod and Gun Club for 12 years and was an NRA Endowment member. He enjoyed collecting firearms and antiques, hunting, and camping.
Survivors include:Daughter: Tonya (Rick) Radley, Pleasant Grove, UTDaughter: Lorna (Bert) Holland, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Karl (Mary) Clapp, Marion, IABrother: John Clapp, Idaho Falls, IDBrother: Eugene (Margaret) Clapp, Idaho Falls, IDSister: Bonnie Weise, Idaho Falls, ID8 Grandchildren & 5 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandy.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2008, at the Ammon LDS 5th Ward, 2055 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Brian Hobbs officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, P. O. Box 51434, Idaho Falls, ID 83405-1434. Phone (208) 522-2751. Fax (208) 522-5413.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
