Edward J. Brodierick, Jr. - ALBANY Edward J. Broderick Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Albany County Residential Health Care Facility. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Edward and Mildred Broderick. Mr. Broderick was a 1945 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and attended Siena College. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran where he served in the Pacific Theatre as a helmsman aboard the USS Osborne, D.E. He was a member of Albany Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Broderick retired as owner and president of Albany Spring Service, Inc. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Claire King Broderick; dear father of Kevin Broderick (Patty) of Guilderland, Kathleen Broderick of Carmel, Calif., Timothy Broderick of Albany, Edward Broderick (Nancy) of Carmel; Norine Molloy (Jude) of Guilderland, Michael Broderick (Gina) of Lake Oswego, Ore., Ellen Bryl (Jeff) of Overland Lake, Kan. and Peter Broderick (Melissa) of Delmar; brother of Coleman Broderick of Saratoga Springs and the late Carol Doran (Frank) and William Broderick; beloved grandfather of Casey, Maggie, Ryanne, Sheamus, Abby, Clarke, Emma, Sean, Liza, Bonnie, Connor, Ben, Charlie, Annabelle, Claire Ellen, Carter, Garrett and Ainsley; brother-in-law of Carol Broderick; several nieces and nephews also survive. Big Ed will be missed by his family and many friends who enjoyed his humor and spirit. Funeral services Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to Holy Cross Church, Albany at 9:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
