      Bartholmew Jr. was the seventh child born to Bart Leonard Sr. and Mary Shaughnessy.
      At the age of 21, he first married Helen Purcell and after her death in 1924 he married Grace M. Wessels, who remarried and died in 1971. There were no children by either marriage.
      He was a leather worker and later, he worked for the A. C. Lawrence Leather Company for over 25 years as a salesman.
