FAVATA, RAYMOND WATERVLIET - Raymond N. Favata, 72, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with his family at his side. Born in Troy on October 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Rocco and Elizabeth Morelli Favata. Raised and educated in Watervliet, Ray was a 1956 graduate of Watervliet High School. He served in the US Army from 1957-59 in Germany. He was employed by the Ford Motor Co. in Green Island and by Portec Steel Company in Troy for over 20 years. He later worked at the concession stand at the Saratoga State Park with his uncle, Mickey Pitaniello for three years. Most recently he was employed for 12 years by the City of Watervliet in the Water Department and at City Hall where he was in charge of maintenance. Ray was a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks. Ray loved to play the horses and enjoyed spending August at Saratoga Race Course. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwood Casino with his wife Dolores. The joy of his life was spending time his granddaughter Gianna. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of Dolores M. O'Brien Favata, Devoted father of Rocco John Favata of Watervliet, Raeann Favata-Rappazzo and her husband Anthony of Albany and the late Mary Ann Favata, Proud grandfather of Gianna Isabella Rappazzo, Loving brother of Michael (Regina) Favata of Niskayuna, Jean (late Joseph) JoJo of Watervliet, Luann (Charles) Broderick of Melrose and the late Paul (wife Kathy survives) Favata of Watervliet. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am at St. Brigid's Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in the Gerard BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 pm.
