Gouverneur. July 28— Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Mason of Wall street have received a letter from their son. Robert Mason, who is on the Mexican border with the
First New York Cavalry, being a member of troop L.
The regiment is stationed at McAllen, Texas, and Mr. Mason writes that all is well with them, but that the boys are chafing somewhat, owing to the fact that there is nothing transpiring on their part of the boundary line.
He states that the weather is very warm, but that the men are feeling flne. They have plenty of good food, and are well satisfied with their location.
Mr. Mason enlisted about two years ago in New York city, when he was employed in the main office of fthe Borden Condensed Milk Company.
James Malloy, another Gouverneur boy, who for the past two years has been employed in Brooklyn, is also on the border with a regiment from that section of Greater New York.
