Note, a "Matthew Redden", aged 54 years, and unmarried, was noted in the Troy Daily Times of 3 Dec 1890 as having dropped dead, of apparent apoplexy, leaving a saloon in West Troy enroute home to his boarding-place. Likely that this is the "Matthew Redden" of the 1888 and 1889 directory listings, and not the same person married to Elizabeth Broderick.
