Per Sr. Anne L. Clark, Archivist, Albany Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet (2/17/03):

      Her necrology reads as follows:

Sister Agnes Clare Broderick died at St. Mary's Home on the 15th of February in the thirty-seventh year of her age and the twelfth of her religious life.

The short, but well-spent life of this dear Sister was crowned by a holy death. By her child-like obedience and devotion to duty, her gentleness and spirit of self-sacrifice she became a subject of edification to her Sisters and greatly endeared herself to them. A faithful, zealous, and devoted worker, our dear Sister had many opportunities of doing good among the children confided to her care. Fortified with all the blessings of our holy religion, she awaited with loving impatience the blessed moment that was to unite her eternally to her Heavenly Spouse. "Being made perfect in a short space, she fulfilled a long time."

      Dear Sister Anne,

Thank you very much, not only for the information, but the speed
with which you provided it. I'm pleased to note the reference to her work
with children. That really reaches across the years and generations to form
a much more personal connection for me.

May I enquire one about one additional item of information? Do your
records provide any information on Sr. Agnes' burial? Or, alternatively, are
you aware of what Catholic cemetery in the Binghamtom area might have been
used by the Order in the Binghamton area?

Again, that you so much for you assistance.

      Dear Mr. Broderick:

We have searched our records and found that we, indeed, had your great grand aunt in our community. Sister Agnes Clare Broderick received the habit in
1884 at the agae of 25 and was professed in 1886. She died at St. Mary's
Home in Binghamton, N.Y. in 1896.

      Her necrology reads as follows:

Sister Agnes Clare Broderick died at St. Mary's Home on the 15th of February
in the thirty-seventh year of her age and the twelfth of her religious life.

space, she fulfilled a long time."

The only other information we have is that her father was, as you suggested,
Michael Broderick, and her mother is listed as Rose Kennedy. Her place of
birth is West Troy, N.Y. in 1859.

I hope this information is helpful.

      God bless!
