      Robert Edmond Piquette (son of Alcide Piquette and Adeline Daly) was born 2 May 1909 in St. Albert, AB, and died 21 November 1985 in Edmonton, AB. He married Elizabeth Theresa Standing on 17 February 1947 in Plamondon, AB.

      Moved to Plamondon with his parents in 1914. Lived in Plamondon until 1928. Worked in the mines at Coal Valley, AB until 1933. Then he homesteaded south of Plamondon. He dug a ditch by hand almost 1 km long to drain a lake. Built snowshoe like pads for his horses feet to allow them to work in bogs / around lakes / in muskegs. Then worked several years as a car salesman for L. H. Tremblay of Morinville, AB (Jean Tremblay's brother, Jean is his brother in law. Joined the Canadian Army in 1940 until 1945. Spent the war training soldiers because health problems did not allow him to go overseas. Married February. 17, 1947 and started a mink ranch. After 2 years he sold it and built an automotive garage and body shop in Plamondon. He was also had the district John Deere agency. Traded this business in 1953 for a large farm at Donnelly in the Peace River Area of Alberta. Where they farmed for 2 years. Sold the farm and bought a lakeside property about 7 km East of Plamondon.
      He set up a subdivision known as Bayview Beach and sold many lots. Formed the Pelican Hotel Co. in 1957. Constructed the hotel and operated it until 1968 when his health problems (emphysema) forced him to retire. Retired in Kelowna where he worked part time for the BC Corps of Commissionaires. Moved back to Alberta in the early 1980's and died in Edmonton.
