A life resident of Syracuse, Mr. Shanahan was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a retired employe of the City of Syracuse. Surviving are his wife, the former Irene Reynolds; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Novak of Solvay, Mrs. Peter Losurdo and Miss Kathleen Shanahan; two sons, Michael J. and Joseph F.; a sister, Mrs. James P. Hogan; a brother, Joseph F.; and seven grandchildren. Services will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemtery, DeWitt.
