Husband of Julia A. McCabe. Father of Marie J. McCarthy and Timothy Augustine Delaney.
He was raised in Cobleskill, Schoharie Co., NY, the son of Timothy and Alice Purcell Delaney, Irish immigrants. He married Julia there on Feb. 10, 1877. The family moved to the Albany/Watervliet area in the first few years of the 1880's.
Dr. Tim attended the University of Toronto and became a veterinary surgeon, and moved to N.Y. City to practice. In Dec. 1914 he was granted a copyright to the 32 page book "For your dog's sake". In 1915 he patented in the U.S. and Canada remedies for diseases of dogs through the Vermilax Company, Inc.
From the Albany Evening Journal dated 7/2/1902:
"Timothy Delaney, after an absence of several years, is visiting his friends here. Mr. Delaney is now located at New York and deals largely in horses, in which business he is an expert. He is chief veterinary surgeon to the Metropolitan Railroad company, Fifth Avenue Stage line and park service and has three assistants. They have some 7,000 horses under their care."
Later, he resided in Port Washington, Long Island. He passed away from liver cancer at the Roosevelt Hospital in Manhatten.
From the Port Washington News (L.I.) dated 5/24/1918:
"DEATHS - The funeral of Dr. Timothy Delaney, whose death occurred on Thursday, May 16, was held Monday from his late home, 114 Middle Neck road, thence to St. Peter of Alcantara's Church, where a mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., the Rev. Joseph Carroll officiating, interment being in a New York City cemetery. Dr. Delaney was one of the most prominent veterinary men in the State. He is survived by a wife and daughter, Mrs. Joseph McCarthy." -- (*Also a son, Timothy A. Delaney of Monroe, Orange Co., NY).
