From the Knickerbocker News (Albany, NY) dated 12/16/1941: "Mrs. Ellen Mace -- One of the oldest residents of upper Broadway Watervliet died today at her home. She was Mrs. Ellen Mace, 2642 Broadway, wife of the late John T. Mace. Mrs. Mace, the former Ellen Delaney was born in Cobleskill but moved to Watervliet as a child and lived in the upper Broadway section since that time. She was an active member of St Patrick's Church and its societies, including the Rosary and Altar Societies. Surviving are two sons, Amos J. New York City, and John S. Mace, Watervliet; four daughters, Mrs. John F. McLinden and Mrs. William M. Kane, both of Troy, and Mrs. Katherine G. Ball and Mrs. Joseph E. Hurley, both of Watervliet; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. where a Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery under the direction of Parker Brothers, Watervliet."
